Global Program Director

My work
I am the Global Program Director at the Jacobs Foundation, where I am in charge of LEVANTE (Learning Variability Network Exchange), a global effort to generate high quality evidence on how to improve learning outcomes for children and youth. I also oversee CEPE (Colombia Evidencia Potencial en Educación), an initiative to build systemic change in education through collaboration between private and public actors, with the aim of improving opportunities for all children in the country.
My research background
I am a Clinical Psychologist with a PhD in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. My research focuses on identifying individual differences in the developmental trajectories of different cognitive functions such as self-regulation and cognitive skills, needed to succeed in school. Using a combination of brain imaging and computational methods, my research shows how to identify individual differences coming from cognitive training in children and predict their future academic and social and emotional skills using simple performance measures from cognitive tasks.
